2021 Excellence in Education Scholarship Award Recipients

Since awarding our first $500 scholarship in 1987, the Saginaw Community Foundation (SCF) has awarded college scholarships to area students totaling more than $8 million (as of 2021). This year, 396 students representing 62 schools will receive 649 scholarship awards totaling $889,650 (all these numbers represent record-high amounts for SCF).

Our scholarships are very diverse and each fund reflects the individual interests and personal philosophies of its donor(s). Some can be used for Career and Technical Education (CTE) training (skilled trade/vocation), others are awarded only for undergraduate or graduate studies. Some scholarships are restricted to specific areas of study, while others are very broad. Some of SCF’s scholarships are need-based, others are based solely on merit, and some are a combination of the two.

Students from across Saginaw County, parts of the State of Michigan, and even other parts of the country use SCF scholarships to pursue education beyond high school. They come from all walks of life and their backgrounds may be very different, but they all have one thing in common – the desire and the drive to achieve a higher education.

The scholarships we award each year are made possible because of the generosity of our fund donors and their commitment to education. Our donors are individuals, families, civic groups and businesses who believe in the value of education. To them we extend our deepest appreciation as they make the dream of higher education come true.
