WHAT WE DO
Making an Impact in Our Community
We strive to advance Saginaw County through investments, charitable giving, awareness-building, and convening groups together to address the most pressing issues affecting our community. The Foundation’s primary responsibilities include the determination of most effective solutions, and facilitating these solutions into existence.

Initiatives
Our foundation’s goals and objectives evolve over time. We are currently engaged in these ongoing initiatives:
FORCE
The kids are alright! FORCE Youth Advisory Committee encourages local youth to take an active role in improving their community. Kids aged 14 to 21 should consider getting involved in this exciting group.
Youth First
The Youth First program creates a positive atmosphere where children can thrive. By shining a bright light on the impact of positive youth development, Youth First teaches leadership skills to today’s children to create tomorrow’s leaders.
Giving Back Task Force
The Giving Back Task Force is about getting everyone involved in community stewardship. Created in partnership with the United Way of Saginaw County, The Giving Back Taste Force coordinates an annual day of community service called Spring Into Service Day.
Alignment Saginaw
Formerly known as Saginaw County Human Services, Alignment Saginaw is a collaborative effort that brings together community members, organizations, and resources to address the most pressing issues facing Saginaw. The program focuses on four key areas: Education, Health, Safety, and Economic Development.
Roadmap to Health
How do you improve community health if you don’t know where it stands? The Saginaw County Roadmap to Health is an annual community health report that outlines current standings and objectives related to the top health needs identified from the Community Health Needs Assessment data.
Investing into Saginaw
How does money translate to action? Through Impact Investments, Saginaw Community Foundation and our business partners provide capital for more local organizations and groups that are uplifting Saginaw. Investments are awarded to projects that appropriately meet a social purpose and align with our priorities. Investments are either paid back to SCF so we can continue to invest in more projects, or SCF can become an equity partner in the project.
Supporting Public Education
Everyone deserves the chance to earn a degree or Career and Technical Education certification. Our scholarship opportunities go a long way in making sure students get their opportunity to excel at a post-secondary education path. We have an impressive list of scholarships established by our donors. Learn more about our application process and about each of our individual scholarship funds. It only takes a single application to qualify for one or more of our scholarship awards.
Funding Public Needs
Each year, the Saginaw Community Foundation infuses millions of dollars back into the Saginaw community in the form of grantmaking. We’re particularly interested in funding:
- Projects enhancing and preserving the quality of life in Saginaw County
- Needs not adequately being served by existing community resources
- Programs providing leverage for generating other funds and community resources
- Organizations that facilitate cooperation and collaboration between our partners
Overseeing Charitable Funds
Do you want to establish a fund for a special cause? A fund is a pool of money that is set aside for a specific purpose or goal. Hundreds of individuals, families, companies and organizations have created a charitable legacy by establishing a fund at the Saginaw Community Foundation.
